How to make a music logo in three steps
A name field and three rows of buttons. You don't upload anything.
- 1
Type the band or artist name
Enter it exactly as fans should read it, up to 40 characters. The optional tagline (up to 50) suits a genre, a city or a label line.
- 2
Choose Style, Icon and Colors
Pick one of five styles, one of six music icons (Music Note, Guitar, Vinyl Record, Microphone, Headphones, Sound Wave) and one of seven palettes. Add a short request in the extra details box if you want one.
- 3
Download and test it
Each click makes one 1024 x 1024 logo, usually in under a minute. Save the PNG, or press Transparent PNG to lift it off the white background.
Why use this band logo generator
Made for acts that need a mark before the next release, not a branding project.
Icons drawn from music
Every icon on this page is a piece of the craft: a note, an electric guitar, a vinyl record, a vintage mic, headphones or a sound wave. The music logo starts from your craft, not a generic swoosh.
Odd band names, spelled right
Band names break the rules, with apostrophes and odd spellings. The model is told to write the name letter for letter, and across more than 60 of our test logos every name and tagline came out correct. Still check every letter.
A cut-out for black merch
Transparent PNG removes the white connected to the edges. Enclosed white, like a record label or the shine on a mic, usually stays, but pale details touching the edge or a broken outline can be cut out too. Preview it on black first.
Not a shared template
Each request asks the model for an original design that resembles no existing brand. You start from your own name rather than a shared gallery, though similar results are still possible.
Free means free files
Three logos per visitor, with no account, no card and no watermark. There is no paid download tier hiding behind the preview.
Music logo generator vs templates vs an artist
Three common routes to a music logo, compared on what matters before a release.
| This generator | Template logo maker | Commissioned artist | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starts from | Your name and three choices | A stock music template | Your brief and references |
| First draft | Usually under a minute | After some editing | Depends on the artist |
| Sign-up | None | Often required to download | A contract or invoice |
| Cost | Three logos free | Varies by plan | Paid, quote-based |
| Files | 1024 px PNG, transparent option | Varies by plan | Depends on the commission |
| Good fit for | New acts, demos, quick merch tests | Acts happy to tweak a template | Touring bands and album campaigns |
Who makes a band or musical group logo here
Bands
A garage band needs one music logo for the kick drum, the setlist poster and the merch table. Try Mascot with Guitar in Red & Black.
Solo artists and rappers
A Wordmark with Microphone puts your stage name first, which suits a streaming profile and a lyric video intro.
DJs and producers
Minimal with Sound Wave or Headphones aims to stay readable as a tiny avatar on mix uploads and event flyers.
Indie labels
A Vintage Vinyl Record mark can serve as a small stamp on the back of a sleeve. Use the tagline for the label line or a founding year.
Teachers and studios
Piano teachers, rehearsal rooms and recording studios can draft a music logo for a sign, a website header or lesson invoices.
Choirs and ensembles
A community choir, a school jazz band or a church worship team can get a musical group logo for programs and concert banners.
What makes a good music logo, by genre
Most well-known music logos fall into three types. Wordmarks are custom lettering, like the Beatles name with its dropped T. Pictorial marks are a single symbol, like the Rolling Stones tongue. Abstract marks borrow sound itself: waves, records, equalizer bars.
Match the type to your sound. Soul, funk and jazz acts suit Vintage with Vinyl Record in Purple & Gold. An electronic producer reads well as Minimal with Sound Wave in Teal & Coral. Punk and rock bands get attitude from Mascot or Wordmark with Guitar in Red & Black. A singer-songwriter can try Badge with Music Note in Forest Green. For a metal look, describe the lettering you want in the extra details box, then make sure the name still reads.
Before your music logo goes on merch or streaming
- Read the band name and tagline letter by letter before you order shirts.
- Shrink the logo to a streaming profile size and check the name is still legible.
- Lay the transparent version on a black tee mockup and on a white poster.
- Generate one Black & White version to see if it works as a one-ink screen print.
- Run the USPTO trademark search or check your local trademark office before selling merch.
- Ask the printer or drum-head maker which file they need. An embroiderer digitizes the art into a stitch file; vinyl and big banners need a vector trace.
Band logo mistakes we see most
Mistake: Cramming a guitar, a skull, flames and a note into one mark
Do this instead: Pick one icon. A music logo with a single symbol is easier to recognize on a small sticker.
Mistake: Lettering so tangled that nobody can read the band name
Do this instead: Keep the name clear, then add grit with the Vintage or Mascot style.
Mistake: Sending a 1024 px PNG for a 22 inch kick drum head or a stage banner
Do this instead: Have a designer trace it into a vector, or run it through a vector converter, before large prints. For embroidered patches, the embroiderer digitizes it into a stitch file.
Mistake: Borrowing a famous band's logo and swapping the name
Do this instead: Start from your own name here. A copied mark can get merch pulled from stores.
